Terms of use

Last updated October 20, 2026.

By using capyhound.com you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

The information is a guide, not legal advice

  • We collect rules, limits and place details from official sources and show the date we last checked them, but rules change and land status can change too.
  • Before you collect, confirm the current rules with the agency that manages the land, and get permission for private land. You are responsible for following the law where you collect.
  • Nothing on this site is legal advice.

Stay safe

Rockhounding happens in remote places with heat, cold, rough roads, old mines and wildlife. You take part at your own risk. Stay out of mine openings, carry water, and tell someone where you are going.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is”. We work to keep it accurate, but we don’t guarantee that every detail is complete or current. To the extent the law allows, Capyhound is not liable for losses that come from using the site or relying on it.

Content and photos

  • The text, design and the Capy mascot belong to Capyhound. You may quote short passages with a link back to the page.
  • Photos by other authors are used under the licences named in their captions and remain theirs.
  • Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Links to other sites

We link to agency pages, maps and other sites for sources and directions. We don’t control those sites and are not responsible for their content.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. Questions: [email protected].
